What makes the Bamboo Cotton Swabs so good?
Conventional plastic cotton swabs pose a real threat to the environment. It is estimated that 1.8 billion plastic-stemmed cotton buds are used in Canada each year. Around 10% of these cotton swabs are flushed down toilets, ending up in waterways and oceans, adding to the 150 million-plus tonnes of plastic in the world’s oceans. Start replacing your plastic versions now, with bamboo cotton swabs made of sustainable Moso bamboo!
The stick part of the Hydrophil cotton swabs is made of Moso bamboo. The tips are made of 100% natural cotton and grown without using chemicals. Before these, you only had the choice of chemically grown cotton swabs with plastic handles. In each package you will find 100 pieces of organic cotton swabs and they come in plastic-free and biodegradable packaging. After use the cotton swabs can simply be disposed in the organic waste, compost or wherever.

Moso Bamboo: The CO2 Superhero
Thanks to its naturally antibacterial nature, bamboo is the perfect material for producing innovative and sustainable hygiene products. In the growing region (China), moso bamboo is treated to perfect growing conditions near Lishui and can reach heights of up to 20 metres. One plant – from which up to 100 bamboo toothbrushes can be produced – removes 18 metric tonnes of CO2 from the environment during the approximately two-year growth phase. To keep transportation routes as short as possible, Hydrophil processes their products in the direct vicinity of the growing region while ensuring the creation of awareness for sustainability and fair working conditions.
